Last Saturday, over 180 people attended the first Surf Pemberton fundraiser event at Big Sky Golf Course in Pemberton. Guests were greeted by a huge array of silent auction items kindly donated by businesses in Pemberton, Whistler and the surrounding area. People arrived from all over the region, including those travelling from Whistler on shuttle transport donated by The Adventure Group.

The event began with the gentle hum of excited conversation about the project and the potential to have a surfable wave in the heart of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. Friends united over a local brew and the chance to come together in support of this community project to build a standing wave surf park at the Rutherford Creek near Pemberton.

As the first band, DEADSECONDS took to the stage to perform a roaring metal set the bidding war began over auction items ranging from snowmobile rental to a stay at the nearby Farmscapes B&B. The party continued with the venerable Slush taking to the stage to perform in front of a packed crowd.

The event was a fantastic success, raising over $5000 for the cause. The money will go directly towards construction of the standing wave surf park, creating a fantastic facility for the community at large.
