On Saturday night Surf Pemberton had its first Whistler fundraiser at Merlin’s Bar & Grill with three kick-ass punk bands and some  mosh pit action on the dance floor. No Other Way kept the crowd delightfully deafened as the house filled up to capacity around 11 p.m. Hardcore punk anarchists Raised by Apes then took the reins as libations flowed freely. Slush (featuring Surf Pemberton Director of Stoke Adam Leggett) kept shaking the foundations until last call.

The first boxes of official Surf Pemberton merchandise arrived just in time on Saturday afternoon and proved to be a hot item at the fundraiser. Volunteers able to sell about one third of the 60 t-shirts printed by our friend Jorge Alvarez at Toadhall Studios. A limited number of stylin’ trucker caps were also available for a those longing for summers on the river.

Tim Masterson, the lucky winner of the much sought after custom board designed by Lambrecht Surfboards, was presented his prize by Surf Pemberton president Tyler Krausher and the craftsman himself, Andy Lambrecht. Tim already can’t wait for summer to roll around.

After a full night of punk rock, beers and all round good party times the volunteers managed to raise over $2,000 for the project. Thanks to all who came out for your support!
